OVERLAND ROUTES INTO VIETNAM |

It's possible to cross overland from Cambodia, Laos and China into
Vietnam
From Cambodia
You can go by bus from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh . Alternatively, you
can take a local bus from Phnom Penh to the border at Moc Bai and then
continue by shared taxi to Ho Chi Minh .
From China
At the time of writing, the Chinese border was open to foreigners at
three points: at Lao Cai , Mong Cai and Huu Nghi . There are two direct
train services between Vietnam and China; they start in Beijing and
Kunming and terminate in Hanoi .
From Laos
There are two border points between Laos and Vietnam where tourists can
cross overland. The Lao Bao Pass , roughly 240km from Savannakhet, is
the most popular and gives you access to Dong Ha, 80km away. There's
also an international bus link between Savannakhet and Da Nang (15hr),
although it's cheaper to travel by local buses. Crossing from Lak Xao to
the Vietnamese town of Vinh, via the Kaew Nua Pass (usually referred to
as Nam Phao in Lao) and Cau Treo , can be more difficult .
